Children’s Weekend

WKO hosts 2-4 age-specific Children’s Weekends per year for up to 10 children 5-12 years old.  The weekends include activities from Friday evening through Sunday morning. The children will stay at WKO’s 22-bed Giving House at the Center in Ellington and learn life skills such as personal care, meal prep, and peer collaboration. Teens (often youth who were camp counselors) assist WKO adult staff to provide supervision and activities. The children enjoy structured activities such as horse riding and care, fishing, art, swimming, and other non-electronics activities, and unstructured cooperative play.  The weekend is designed to help children improve their self-help, problem-solving, and relational skills, all disguised as play!
